If you feel that this website has helped you, please consider throwing a couple of dollars at us! The programmer's bill was a LOT and we're still not done -- we have plans to make the RCG even more useful and easier to use.

What is the Reenactor Consumer Guide?

Well, it's a place for customers to rate their experiences with vendors servicing the reenacting community. Good or bad, let's hear it. Vendor Feedback Reviews are posted only after reveiwed by our staff.

Positive reviews are posted as they are submitted, negative reviews (under "5") are posted within 2 weeks after submission. During this time, the vendor is sent the review in order to provide them ample time to provide us with a rebuttal. After 2 weeks if no rebuttal is received the review is posted. Vendors who do not recall the buyer are encouraged to make contact and work out the problem.

Vendor Feedback Reviews where the person leaving the feedback, either did not buy anything, or cannot be contacted will not be posted. We have had reviews posted without valid email addresses etc. Just do it right.

History of the RCG

The RCG was started in 2000 by Harry Coombs. This was in response to one of the members of his unit getting blatantly ripped-off by a reenactor vendor. Although starting slow, it soon took off to the point he couldn't maintain it. It wasn't helped by the fact that Harry was doing this under cover -- not wanting to have vendors refuse to sell to him or attack him in other ways. After a while, Erich Loych took over the RCG and made it into a database site, but it was still hard to maintain. He gave it to Marsh of reenactor.Net and it has taken the better part of two years for us to get it back up and working. With the help of a master Jedi programmer (and a lot of Reichsmarks) it is!

Please use REAL ratings and not just give all "10's" -- please be accurate. We have 3 catagories:

• Service

Please rate your experience using these criteria. 5 is average, use a "10" ONLY if they are really supereb. Help your fellows with this.

Some Rules for This Site and Posting Reviews:

1. Don't lie. Almost all vendors keep good e-mail records and can easily pull up any convos between you.
2. Don't swear or flame. Just state the facts.
3. No personal attacks.
4. YOU need to be the one who had the dealings, not your buddy.
5. Reviews where the person leaving the feedback cannot be contacted (without valid email addresses, etc.) will not be posted.
